Pristina will have a Composting Scheme

We are thrilled to announce to the public that after nearly three years of hard work one of Fondacioni Jeshil projects has achieved an important milestone. Specifically, the construction company contracted by the Municipality of Prishtina has begun the works on the construction of the Composting Plant in Mramor, Pristina.

Composting Scheme for Gërmia Park and Pristina Public Green Areas is a pilot project, the first of its kind in Kosovo, which aims to create the infrastructure for organic waste management for the Municipality of Prishtina through composting, as an environmentally-friendly process.

The operating capacity of the Composting Plant foresees the processing of about 3,000 cubic meters of organic waste annually, with the potential to expand the capacity in the future. The benefits of the composting scheme include: cost reduction for public services, environmental protection and production of high quality organic fertiliser from resources destined for landfill. Total project cost: 370,000 EUR. The Composting Center is expected to become operational in May 2020.
